Ameritribes operates a revolving loan program where money is made available at a low interest rate to tribal people who, though they have the initiative and resourcefulness necessary to begin a small business, lack the capital to do so. As the loans are paid back into the revolving fund, they become available for others who need help with similar projects.

The program began in 1998 when funds were collected for a portable sawmill to be purchased by a Tarahumara community.

Since then other Native business projects have been funded, including three carpentry shops, a small lunch shop, and a neighborhood school supply store.

Ameritribes evaluates and measures the motivation of those who request loans. As new requests are received, the connection with active evangelical ministries is determined and if funds are available, loan and payment programs are worked out. We currently have over $20,000 in active loans.
